RedactLedger lets you redact sensitive information from PDFs entirely on your device — no file ever leaves your browser or phone. This guide walks through the whole workflow in four steps.
Click Upload PDF on the editor screen, or drag and drop a file directly onto the canvas. RedactLedger only accepts PDF files.
Draw a rectangle over any area — account numbers, addresses, signature lines — and click Redact. This gives you full control over exactly what is hidden.
Select a preset from the sidebar (e.g. Landlord, Loan Officer, Immigration) to automatically apply the redactions most relevant to that audience.
Click Auto-Detect to scan the document for common sensitive patterns: account numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, national ID numbers, and more. Review the list, toggle items on or off, and let RedactLedger add the rectangles for you.
Scroll through each page to verify every redaction covers the correct text. Zoom in for a closer look. You can undo any individual redaction from the sidebar or press Clear to start over.
Click Export Redacted PDF, acknowledge the fraud warning, and download your file. Free accounts receive a watermark; Pro accounts export clean, watermark-free PDFs.
