Uploading Files

RedactLedger accepts PDF files only. All processing happens locally on your device — your file is never sent to a server.

How to Upload

Click to browse: Click the Upload PDF button (or the dashed drop-zone) to open your system file picker. Choose any .pdf file.

Drag and drop: Drag a PDF from Finder or Explorer directly onto the dashed drop-zone on the editor page.

File Requirements

• Format: PDF only (.pdf)
• Max size: 10 MB on Free, 100 MB on Pro
• Max pages: 5 on Free, 50 on Pro

After Uploading

The PDF is rendered on the canvas. Each page is shown at 100% zoom by default. Use the zoom controls in the toolbar to adjust the view before drawing your first redaction.

Multiple Files

RedactLedger works on one file at a time. To redact a new file, press Reset to clear the current session and upload the next document. Your download history is saved in the History tab (Pro only).

Troubleshooting Uploads

• "File too large" – Upgrade to Pro for files up to 100 MB or compress your PDF first.
• "Too many pages" – Free plan is limited to 5 pages. Split your PDF using a tool like Adobe Acrobat or a free PDF splitter.
• The file won't load – Make sure the file is not password-protected. RedactLedger cannot open encrypted PDFs.
